HOLD FAST THAT WHICH IS GOOD

My life is a journey of finding wonderful things, good things, and then holding fast to them.  The synergy between the tenets of my spiritual path and my yogi practice has made me what I jokingly call a 'Mogi'. (The term, meaning Mormon Yogi  :)  was coined by a fellow Mormon who has practiced yoga with me and also saw the synergy.)

EAT A GOOD DIET, REST AND EXERCISE PROPERLY

While our spiritual paths may vary
there will be unity in our way toward perfection

My goal is to strive toward Samadhi - to heed the command to "be yea therefore perfect".  Perfection, the ultimate union with the divine, is achieved deliberately - by the paths we choose, the character we build, the sacred texts we study.  Asanas, or the exercises we do,  ensure our body doesn't get in the way of spirituality. We can ponder, meditate and journey inward.  We can serve others on our journey outward.

THE 10 YAMAS AND NIYAMAS

The Yogic 10 Commandments

I believe in being honest, true chaste, benevolent and in doing good to all. Yamas are the way we connect with the world - Ahimsa (non violence) Satya (Truthfulness) , Asteya (Non Stealing), Brahmacharya (Control of Sensual Desires), Aparigraha (Greediness). The Niyamas are the way we connect to our spiritual selves - Saucha (Purity), Santosha (Contentment), Tapas (Self-Discipline), Ishvara-Pranidhana (Surrender), Svadhyaya (Study sacred texts).

THE 6 ROOTS OF THE TREE

All branches lead to the trunk

Roots nourish the tree.  Yoga's root system has six paths; Hatha, Raja, Karma, Bhakti, Jnana, and Tantra yoga.  Hatha yoga is primarily practicing asanas.  Raja is the use of meditation, Karma is acts of service, Bhakti is a path of devotion, Jnana requires development of the intellect through the study of the scriptures and texts of the yogic tradition, and Tantra yoga is a path of chastity.

THE 8 LIMBS OF THE TREE

Committed

The limbs of a tree reach out into the world. The eight "limbs" of yoga as outlined by Patanajli in the Yoga Sutra. Also found in many other branches of yoga, these limbs, or stages, follow this order: Yama (ethical standards); Niyama (self-discipline); Asanas (postures); Pranayama (breath extension or control); Pratyahara (sensory withdrawal); Dharana (concentration); Dhyana (meditation); and Samadhi (ecstasy or final liberation).

It's not 'what' you believe but 'how' you believe it. Love is central.

One can correctly see a circle while the other correctly sees a square - depends from what perspective they view the cylinder.

WE ARE THEIR CHILDREN

To me, each of us are children of divine heavenly parents. When I say 'namaste' the divine in me is recognising the divine in you.  This earth life is just a time to learn and grow toward our eternal destiny.  Our journey is to become more like them and return in to their presence

HE IS OUR EXEMPLAR

Amongst the noble and great ones, who have walked the face of the earth, one stands alone who is more than a prophet and more than just a Holy One.  The Lord Jesus provided the atonement. Through the Saviour mercy and justice can both be satisfied. He pays the price and we accept his sacrifice and promise to follow Him.

REVELATOR TO US ALL

The Holy Ghost is a personage of Spirit.  If it were not so he could not dwell within us. Happiness in life is achieved when we surrender to the enticings of the Holy Spirit.  We become more faithful, prayerful, repentant, forgiving, respectful loving, compassionate and knowing of spiritual truths.

HINDU TRIMURTI

In Hinduism, triad of the three gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva perform the cosmic functions of creation, maintenance and destruction. Typically Brahma is the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer, though individual denominations may vary from that particular line-up.

THE ENLIGHTENED ONE

Siddhartha Gautama advocated a doctrine of enlightened equality.  He taught "I am neither a god, an angel or a saint. I am awake".His answer became his title Buddha, meaning that at the age of 35 he became the awakened one.
